Importing Layers from one project to another anime project

Post by trabar »

I have looked in Help, the Tutorials and searched this forum and I can't find out how to get layers I created in one anime project to come into (import) into another anime project.

It's probably pretty simple but apparently not simple enough (LOL).

I have Anime Studio 5 Pro.

I've tried to copy and paste one vector layer into another vector layer and it's not showing up. And yes, all the points were selected.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

File> Import> Anime Studio Object

You'll then be given a file browser window to select an anime file.
Then once you pick the file, you'll get another little browser
window, which will list the layers you have to choose from.

(The layers you have to choose from are the layers and groups
in the "bottom" layer. So nested layers aren't shown.
So if you want to bring in a character, you can bring in its whole
folder. Sometimes you might want a background or something which
is up inside a folder somewhere, with a bit of forethought you
can clone the layer out to the root layer and turn it off, so it doesn't
render in your scene but you have access to it for import into other scenes.)

You have to go to: file/import/anime studio object... then navigate to the project you want to import the layer from and select that layer.

Hope that helps?

Please do the tutorials from the built in help before ask those kind of things.
From the tutorial 1.4 Bones Setup:
As you build a Anime Studio project, there are times you may want to re-use objects you created before. There's an easy way to do this, and we'll use it now to add a character to the project. Select the File->Import->Anime Studio Object... command.

I appreciate all your help. I tried it and it worked beautifully. Huge thanks!!

As to going through the tutorials, I am taking an animation class at eclecticacademy.com and what I'm trying to do wasn't included in the lessons.

So yes, when I have more time, I will go through all the tutorials.

It would be good if there was a hot key for this.

Modo is interesting from the user interface perspective,
the whole thing is malleable, you can set it up however you like.

Can you assign hotkeys in Anime?
I seem to remember somewhere on here you can do so on a mac?
