I quickly slapped this together as an experiment for the 48 hour film competition I'm entering.
Last year I combined Anime Studio with 3d objects exported from Blender. The shot was done in two passes in Anime Studio and then composited in After Effects.
This experiment is an animation rendered in ASP and then imported as a flat tile into Blender. The final composite is done all in Blender.
I wanted to see which one was faster and less PITA. Either way you approach it, both methods are fiddly.

Yeah I actually tried doing that, but for some reason it would render the shadow of the card, and not the shadow of the character. Also I wanted to see how fast I could render it, and you can get a speedup if you don't use shadows.
Anime Studio renders faster, but managng 3d objects in it can be frustrating... so it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
