I have recorded audio in Audacity.
I export as a WAV.
I choose the file as my soundtrack in AS.
The audio plays back with distortion and crackles, etc...
If I play it in Windows Media Player, it sounds great. If I play it in Audacity and even Soundbooth, it sounds great.
But, when I render my animation in AS and then import it into Premiere Pro CS4, the audio is distorted, etc...
If I remove the audio in Premiere and replace it with my original recording, it has the distortion, etc...
Baffled!

First of all, if you are using Premiere to assemble your animations you should not be outputting audio from AS. You should output as single frames (BMP most likely) only. Then import them into Premiere.
If you do this and then put the audio (your original audio) into Premiere you won't have any problems. But before you do that, try this -- just open up a brand new Premiere project and import only your audio track. Play the file. Is it okay? If not, there is something wrong with your original audio track, regardless of how it plays elsewhere.
