What the heck happened to flip layers in AS 6?

Post by mkelley »

Well, the topic says it all.

I used this tool ALL the time -- it's indispensable in my animations -- so don't tell me it's gone away (or, if so, I have to script it myself). This is SO insanely useful in doing flip book head turns, switching hands to the other side, etc. etc. that I'm sure I'm just missing the far easier way Mike has implemented this now.

Oh I see it now -- and I'm not happy.

Why or why did he take this out of being a separate tool. So now something I press, oh, maybe dozens of times during an animation I have to double my keystrokes now. Thanks a lot.

I guess I'll have to cut out this part of the code of the layer move and make the tool over again. Geeze -- was this something anyone actually REQUESTED? Point me to the AS request list for this one. (Other than Vern -- because he says he didn't much of his requests in AS 6).

Calm down. It will all be okay.

http://www.lowrestv.com/anime_studio/as ... uttons.zip

Unzip into the tools/scripts folder.
Add the flip layer buttons to the "tool_list.txt" file in the "\scripts\tool" directory in the AS application directory.

Code: Select all

group Layer
tool	lm_translate_layer	1
tool	lm_scale_layer 2
tool	lm_rotate_layer 3
tool	lm_set_origin 0
button	lm_flip_layer_h ...
button	lm_flip_layer_v ...

Do they work for you in the demo version of AS 6 pro? Because they aren't working for me.

They work for me in the "version" I have of "AS Pro 6". I don't have the demo and did not test in the demo. I may not even have the "final" build of the official release but I don't know this for sure.

They work in ASP6 demo, you have to modified the text file in the script-tools and add in the buttons. If they show up as others you didn't change the text file.

No, I know about modifying the text file -- what I am saying is that even seeing the icon the script does not work for me, on three separate machines.

Are you using Windows, Dale? I'm running XP Pro edition (SP 3).

And, Vern, you ARE trying this on Windows, right?

If they do work for some and not for others, Vern, this is a HUGE bug (really and truly). I've even modified the code so it will print messages and it's not doing that either. Help me out with this, please.
