What happen to the setting on the timeline in ASP6?

Post by dueyftw »

First the flip point 180 tool, now I'm trying to hide a layer. The old way was to click on the time setting and add in a new key frame? No setting tap in ASP 6.?

Never mind, I figure it out I have to make it visible or invisible in the layer setting tab first. I starting to understand what all the fuss has been about. I miss the time line setting tab.

dueyftw I believe is refering to the new channel view. In 5.6 you clicked a button to show a window with a list of all the channels. You selected the channels you wanted to see and they were always visible whether they had keys or not.

In AS 6 a channel is not visible until it has a key. For example the bone rotation channel is not visible until at least one bone has been rotated on a key frame other than frame 0.

Check out this short video I did that covers this subject:

And this one which covers actions and animated layer order:

Yes, I was talking specifically about the visibility, but I didn't tell it

Oh for goodness sakes! There it is right in that little menu right on the layer!!! WOOOHOOOO! All this time I never saw it there and was using the "larger" layer properties for visibility. I just assumed it would only be in one place!!

Thanks Selgin! You're the man! I like that feature. ;) This is great!

This is the fun part. All the little discoveries.

Ok, Still I don't get it, what was so bad having empty time lines? This means that any time I need to key something I have to make an event. I liked my old work flow where I could bring up empty time lines and just key them.

I disagreed with this feature too, but with the time playing it feels comfortable. I just would want to add little features as easy access to all the channels, for example, for points movement you just must to select the tool and click, but for things like fill or layer transparency it becomes tedious.
I think a solution to some problems would be to see the channel related to the selected tool. Maybe the channels could be always reordering its position depending of the selected tool (where the selected tool channel be always on top). Well, I'm just speculating. But the new way timeline works is cool, in my opinion, just needs some improvements.
