how to compress a AVI video from AnimeStu to a smaller size?

Hi everyone, i'm facing a problem which is the size of the video/animation that i export is too big(4Gb i want to convert to 1Gb),
because i need to do 4 animation and save it into a dvd, and now one animation already took 4GB.

For more information, actually after i complete the animation i need to link it with one software call MATLAB,thus i only can accept AVI file.

So my question is, how to compress a 4GB AVI video to 1 GB AVI video?

You can export your AS movie using an AVI codec other than Full Frames (Uncompressed). It'll come out much smaller.

Alternatively, open your 4GB AVI in the free VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org), then use Video > Compression to set the preferred codec, then choose File > Save as AVI... giving the file a new name.

In both cases, experiment with the different codecs to see what gives the best quality/file size ratio.
