Review of A S Pro 6 in ImagineFX Mag

Just received my copy of ImagineFX magazine (September) and it has a high rating review of the software and short interview with Stu Gamble of Freakish Kid.

The review itself could've been more thorough, though it's full of praise and there are some nice pictures

However, when they make statements like "You might not be getting Hollywood quality results, but this is still a pretty nifty package all the same" you do wonder if they are actually qualified to review animation software and if they realise the results are mainly down to the capabilities of the artist ??

Just picked a copy up today. Great picture of Clucky, but I agree thats a really stupid statement.

I read yesterday that a chilean animated movie wouldn't be made on AS because AS can't get the quality they needed.
the funny thing is that the movie is based on this serial quality. And finally the movie looks like this.
What a great country is my country...

Yuk!
Its nuts! We did a short sample for a movie a few weeks a go. No way we can show it, but the quality was up there with anything out their feature-wise.

The film was to be 3d. What we did with AS made them re-think that. They couldn't believe it was 2d.

What a shame you can't post the clip you produced Knunk. However, we've seen enough of your work to know it would be superb

I hope the company decides to produce it in 2D. I love all forms of animation but I think there's still something very appealing about 2D....especially these days with all the depth effects and other visual tricks available. (Which is what I assume is what you were talking about when you mentioned the client couldn't believe it was 2D?)

Hello all!

If I wanted to make a feature film for projection I would use hand drawn animation, and well, AS is not the best at that!

But for TV or DVD/BD distribution, AS is a kickass product.

You can achieve any TV quality out there, like Stokes, 6Teen, Atomic Betty etc with no problems with the advanced cutout tools AS offers.
