Save the Cat / Long live Blake Snyder

I've been re-reading Blake Snyder's highly influential book on screenwriting, "Save the Cat," and I wanted to ask him whether his 15-beat storyboard applies to shorts as well as full-length films.

I visited his website for the first time and found that he died on Aug 4. What a huge loss of storytelling talent, especially to those of us who have so much to learn from his tutorials.

His website shows that he created screenwriting software around the Save the Cat scheme. Has anyone here used this?
