adding points to a ready made shape

Post by fredthewhino »

This is probably a really stupid question but keep in mind that I'm very new to this software. So when I add a point to a circle, the whole shape distorts. I have made a circle for a head and when I click a spot on the circle to add the point, the shape changes. Why? what am I doing wrong? :(

You are not doing anything wrong. It is the way AS calculates points which make it behave so.

If you really need a perfect circle as a head, why not add other features (nose etc) as additional shapes on top?

Not really. If I must work that precisely, I do it like this:
1. Create a circle.
2. Duplicate this layer.
3. Add points to the circle on top and place them correctly, using the bottom layer as a guide.

I think this will be useful.

Go to menu Scripts - Draw - Split Curve

Another alternative is draw your cirlce and then use scripts/draw/split curve [menu item].

You get the extra points but... there is deformity on deletion.
