Just wondering how you experienced animators go about assembling a number of .anme scenes into a finished project.
I understand using a video editor / compositing application is often used for larger projects, even though in theory, you could have many scenes within an AS file.
My approach will be to first complete the audio track, then animate scenes in a number of AS files. Not sure yet If I'd render to .mov, .avi, or sequential frames. Haven't determined if I'd do much effects in the video editor (currently have Vegas, not the pro version) but understand I'd want to preserve the alpha channel.
My question is how do people align the scenes to conform with the audio. One approach is to put the audio in the .avi and listen. But I was wondering if people use starting frames other than 1, or render to stills with numbers that match audio frames. Maybe this is something that is just eyeballed in the video editor. Maybe a single vector frame at the start of a scene has notes to help. (Now I understand those Scene 4, Take 27 wooden signs with the snap that they show in movies about the making of a movie).
Just thought I'd ask and see what approach some of you take.

What I'd do is cut the audio up into scenes with a free audio program called Audacity, then import the correct audio for each scene, animate to that, export the scene with the audio, import the scene with the audio into a non-linear video editor and match up the audio to the original long audio file with all the scenes in one long file, and then whammy.
