...Import Vector Art Created in a Different Program

Post by BigMouth »

I've created a character in Adobe Illustrator and now I'd like to animate. However, the drawing tools in Anime Studio are a little cumbersome and I'd rather not have to redraw my character... suggestions? What am I doing wrong? What format does the Illustrator file need to be saved as... I saved it as a png but can only import it as a tracing file, which I REALLY don't want to do... any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Save your illustrator as version 8. If you have AS 6 the import will be much better than in previous AS versions.

Anyway, I recommend you try to understand AS drawing tools, they seems to be weird, but when you habituate it's very easy and fast to get desired results.

However, personally I think it's better to draw directly on AS. Drawing for animating is diferent than normal drawing, so the number of points, curvature and position are important.

What do you import the file as? Do I go to File Import?

maybe you should try with that...

pd: I'm not sure if AS debut can import illustrator files. I just know AS pro can.

I have Anime Studio Pro 6.... when I do a file>Import> Image is Grayed out meaning I can't select it...

The character I built is actually very simple... only 13 points... so it should be fairly simple to animate...

Oh, I see, the demo version can't import illustrator files.
