Super8mm, will you come back?
This may be premature, but he has taken down his videos and image links, so he seems to be at some crossroad. If he ultimately decides to leave, I'm posting this as a public confession and as a starting point for reconciliation.
[edit: delete link]
First, I take responsibility for posting the pic that seems to have prompted him to leave. It wasn't my intention (I thought it was a clever riff on Magritte), but I can understand why he would be offended, so I quickly apologized and removed the pic.
That said, his decision to leave is his own and no one else's. Perhaps he may feel unappreciated for all he's contributed (some really clever stuff), but honestly he's gotten lots of praise. For him to "take his ball and go home" over one post or thread seems out of proportion.
Posting in a public forum is not for the thinned skinned. Furry art in particular is dicey these days, because of the perception of all furry = perversion. It's not true, but it's a perception you can't ignore. Some of his posted samples encouraged this perception, although it's clear his artistic interests reach beyond that genre.
Well, we all have good days and bad days. So this was a bad day for Super, but maybe he'll feel better soon and start posting again, maybe repost his videos. I certainly hope so. I've said before I'm a fan of his work and always valued what he had to say. His recent foray into scripting would've been a treat.
I hope he comes to realize that this is a community of wildly different creative personalities and we can (and will) disagree about content, but still respect each other as artists. In the end, we are bound by a love of making cartoons with this crazy program called AnimeStudio. And that's a special community indeed.

I didn't realize Super8 took down his videos.
Super8, even if you decide not to post here anymore, I hope you understand that your contributions are valued. And I'm sorry for any part I may have played in this. I do hope you'll return.
Neeters guy: Super8mm might prefer not to see links to that thread so that it can just die.

My apologies if what I'm going to say seems harsh. People have many motives for their actions, some of which are not at all obvious. It may be that super8 has been thinking of leaving for a while, and this was just an excuse. My opinion (I assume I'm allowed to express it) is that this is a rough and tumble world, and the perceived slight was only an attempt at humour that was not accepted in the manner in which it was given. Picking up all your toys and flouncing off is not the correct way to respond here. As I've said, this IS just my opinion.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
jahnocli--I think that's a reasonable assessment of what has happened. I do think that people were simply interpreting the situation differently as it progressed. But as to the correct time to leave the forum, my opinion is that the costs and the benefits for every forum user are different. For him, the benefits of coming here could be outweighed by the negativity he feels he's encountering.

Good-natured joking happens everywhere, in any community. Hopefully Super8 comes to that conclusion after getting away for a bit. I didn't see anything mean-spirited or inappropriate in the thread...if anything, Neeters, your picture should have diffused any tension that was there in the first place.
Laughing is good. People should do more of it. If I never laughed at myself or my life I'd be shivering in a sewer somewhere.

I want to say he over-reacted and he should get over himself but in honesty if I had the community poking fun of my work with comments about camel-toes I guess I'd also be a bit miff. So I too apologize for having fun at his expense. The more he denied the camel-toe likeliness the more I wanted to point it out. Like the Emperor's New Clothes or something.
My first thought was when seeing the title of the post “Single 8 is better because you can add sound” but that is not true any more.
See, we all do and say things that are stupid. A while back we were teasing someone about staying in jail for a few days. I think that it was all in good nature fun, but someone could be very sensitive about the experience. Get very mad and leave the forum.
As I write this now there is only me registered but 18 guests. And 12000 registered users! Where are all the people on this forum? Over the past few years I have watch people come and go. Some of them got good at animation and left.
For those who are fairly new. AS is only a tool. It will not do the animation for you. For people who do not come to the forum any more it is more likely that animation just takes too much time and there are so many things to do in life.

Super8mm was just so gung-ho about animation. I get so wrapped up in the mechanics that I lose sight of the big picture that it's just exhilarating to see your ideas come alive. Super8 was great to see around in the forums because his excitement for animation was contagious.
But, Duey, you're right. People will come and go in forums.
