Rasters and vectors, can they get along?

Post by theotherguy »

Hi, I'm currently working on a project using mainly rasters, I'd like to use vectors too but when I go to add a vector layer, it's greyed out. Even when there is a vector layer present, I can't do anything with it, the drawing tools too are greyed out.

When I start a project where I use rasters I have to be careful to make sufficient group and switch layers as I've been in a situation where I can't add either, I can only add 'image' layers. I can fix this by exiting and reloading the program, sometimes, but I wish I didn't have to.

Can I combine bitmaps and vectors, or am I stuck using one or the other?

When adding a vector layer or add stuff to vector layer, are you at frame 0?
Version 6.0 prevents to add/edit vector layers beyond frame 0 by default. You can desactivate that behavior by the "Preferences->Enable drawings tools only at frame 0", although I don't reccomend it.

99.99% of the time you will want to draw or import on frame zero. The only time is when you want something to just appear out of nowhere. Even then it better to hide a layer then start it on a frame other then zero.
