Should I buy Poser 8?
I have Anime Debut and it's OK, but I would like to create my own characters. Should I invest in Poser 8 or Anime Pro or Groboto?
There is no answer to your question as it is expressed here. It depends on what you want to do, what you are interested in, how you want to express your ideas, and so on. The programs you mention all exist to fill certain niches -- only you can decide whether you are interested in that particular niche.
So, what do you want to do?

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
As Jahnocli said, it really depends on what you want to do. If I'm understanding correctly, it sounds like you haven't decided between 2D and 3D.
Have you already designed your characters appearance-wise? Is 3D more suitable for the style of animation you want? Will they be rotating around a lot? And then are you happy with the 3D rendering you can achieve with those programs?
More questions:
Are you going for something artistically beautiful or is the art primarily there to get you through the story? If beauty is important, you might look at some examples that you find beautiful. Are they 2D? 3D? A combination? Then consider how that style can best be achieved.
Also, if you already have debut, you could always start building your characters and see how you like them.

You guys ask great questions. While I like the beauty of 3D (it pleases me more), I don't need it for the stories I want to tell. I think I was attracted to it because I have seen some of the characters that have been built in it. I also understand that there are quite a few already rendered aspects, so I can build a character from choosing hair, eyes, mouths, etc from a library.
I am not "fluent" in AS Debut yet. But I don't see a lot of existing content where I can build a character. Any suggestions on where to start to get my feet wet? All I have done so far is added images and animated words

AS is a ground up animation. You will need to actually draw your own toons or get them somewhere else and import them. IDT any1 actually uses any of the toons that comes in the software, or atleast i dont use.blf wrote:You guys ask great questions. If u take the time to look at the tutorials thats under the help section u will see what AS offers.
You can import and image and use the "add point" tool and kinda trace your toon you want.
Just make sure u draw arms, legs, heads, body seperatley so u can manipulate them later. U can make them all on same layer but just rem to bind points to the right bones etc.
Start off making a square body, legs, arms, and a round head. Add bones to them and bind points to the bones.
In 3 weeks u will be posting awsome animations

This might help u.
I didn't bone it or draw the legs seperatley because i already have this toon done and rigged. This was just for someone that asked how i drew it.

dude, i cant draw a strickman worth a crap and i manage to draw some real looking stuff. Its all about using every resource u can come up with, be creative.
Also there is nothing wrong with using the print screen fuction on your KB when u see an object u like and then using ctrl v in MS paint to copy it and then importing to AS and then use add point to trace it!!!!
IM JUST SAYING

So, do you paste a few 3000 frame bits together to get a longer clip?sbtamu wrote:all the animations on my youtube site are done with debut.
U just need to use a movie maker of some sort to get more than 2 audios because debut only lets u have 2.
What i do is when i pan in or out or change a scene i just cut the project there and move on to next scene with 2 more free audios
