How do I take a grouped set of images raster images to fade in and out.
I have been trying all ways of doing this. The script fade doesn't work because these are images. I have tried to change the opacity of the group
in and out but the layer doesn't keep the setting. I go back to check the group and they are changed to last setting I made. Is there some trick to
keeping the opacity to stay put? I have also tried adjusting each image
layer in the group and that didn't work either.
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks
Grouped image layers fade in and out

Try double-clicking a layer and checking "Allow Animated Layer Effects" in the General tab. With this checked, keyframes are added to your timeline whenever you change a layer setting (opacity, blur, shadow, etc.)
With this enabled for the group layer, all the layers inside the group will change their opacity accordingly, so what you were originally trying to do -- control the opacity for the whole group -- will work.

Fading
Thanks for the reply. I had checked those boxs but then I went back and
checked them they unchecked. I took the image layers out of the group
and did the same thing again with the boxes checked. That didn't right either. I don't understand how the boxes can uncheck themselves. I think I will start all over from scratch and see if it will work better.
Can you tell me what controls the speed of an object going from one side of the frame to the other side. I have tried putting the keyframes close together and spread far apart I can't see what is making the object speed
across the frame when I want it slowly move across. The length of the clip is 15 sec. at 24 frames per sec. It should be simple but it isn't coming to me.

Lbrgoof,
"Distance" is the amount of space between two points (the left side and the right side of your screen, for instance).
"Duration" is the amount of space between two keyframes on your timeline (the keyframe at the beginning of your timeline and the keyframe at the end, for instance).
"Speed" is the Distance divided by the Duration: it is the space between two points in your workspace, divided by the space between two points in your timeline.
------
You can forget all that, it just means that the "speed" of an object in your animation depends on two things: how far it's moving, AND how far apart its keyframes are.
To make something move faster, you need to bring the keyframes closer together and/or make it travel a longer distance. To make something move slower, spread its keyframes apart and/or make it travel a shorter distance.
A real world example: If somebody says to you, "You must run to the end of the block in fifteen seconds," you will run at a certain speed. However, if they say "You must run to the end of the block in TEN seconds," you will have to run faster...you'd also have to run faster if they said "You must run to the end of the NEXT block in fifteen seconds." Greater distance or shorter duration means faster speed.
It's a funny concept but it soon becomes automatic. This is probably more information than you need.
As for boxes in your layers checking and unchecking, I've never seen anything like that...starting again does seem like the best idea!

Speed
Muffy,
That was an excellent description of speed. After I wrote that question I realized how dumb it was. However, you never know if it might help someone else. I really do need to get to bed before 1:00 AM. That when the dumb questions come out. You were very kind to answer it.
Thanks
