Shape only half filled

Post by macnavi »

This is the second time I encounter this problem and I can't figure out why it happens or how to solve it.

I have created one shape with the Add Point tool. When I want to fill it, it only fills half of the shape for no reason. Strange, because I made it in one go, as one shape. And it's clear that the shape is closed, otherwise there wouldn't even be possible to fill it.

Anyone any idea how to solve this?

Click here for the project file (one vector layer)

The opening at the bottom is hidden on purpose.

Thanks for the answer. No, that doesn't work. The moment I click inside the empty space with the Select Shape tool, the shape gets deselected.

Try messing with the lines that end know where. The problem is prolly there. Pull each point back and make sure no lines are overlaping, once u get the shape made pull them back to where u want.

Also, Did u hide the lines ontop or are all the points not all connected?

Just tried that, but it really is one shape. You can see that it fills up very strange, as the fill at the left doesn't start where there is a vector point, but between two vector points. If you copy-paste this in a new document, it does the same.

Did you import this shape? If you did, the likelihood is that there are some vector points on top of each other. I'm afraid there is nothing for it but to systematically tweak each point, to see if any other points are hiding underneath. Bummer.

If that doesn't work, you might need to break one of the lines, reconnect it and re-fill. Bummer again...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

It's exactly the same problem described and solved here:

That was it, Selgin. Deleting the fill, select all points and fill again. It was most likely filled with not all points selected.

Somehow, I knew you would come up with the answer!

when this happened to me it was cause a point was on top of another in a shape similar to yours. I had to actually remove points till i found the problem.

Anyways, CGS on problem solved :D
