how do i get the sound to play back?

When i import a sound into studio debut 6 it won't play back. Tried various formats - it just stops after a few frames - silence. I must be doing something wrong...any help would be appreciated...

Have you tried extending the timeline playback from 72 frames to longer...like 500 frames? I think its CNTRL + ALT + CLICK in the numbers above the timeline to extend the blue bar.
