Transform groups with bones

Post by Lukas »

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to transform groups (group-layers, bone-layers, switch-layers) with bones?

I want to flexi-bind switch-layers to bones, not hard-bind them to a single bone.

Did they fix this in Anime Studio Pro 7?

It would solve tons of problems for me.

Thank you

Bones can transform (translate, scale and rotate) any layer that is inside the bone layer scope (first level). You can only affect points that are inside Vector layers and if the Vector layer is direct child of a bone layer. Bones cannot affect points that belongs to a layer that is child of a group layer.
Also you can add bones to Switch layers (Switch layers are specialized bone layers that only shows one layer each time).

Then what is the use of having groups? For complicated character-rigs it is important to keep body parts separated. But I'd still want them to transform (bend) using bones.

I have switch-layers in a bone-layer. And I know I can add bones in a switch-layer. But in the bone-layer there's more than just that switch-layer.

Now I have to animated the layer-visibility of many layers, which I could do at the same time with just 1 switch-layer. But right now that's not an option because I need to be able to bend those seperate layers with a parent bone-layer.

It would make rigs simpler and character animation easier and faster.

Sadly you can't bend groups inside bones layers (or bone layers inside bone layers, or switch layers, etc). It would be awesome if you could, but meanwhile you must setup your character considering this limitation.
Anyway, with a good rig you shouldn't have problems.

My rigs are good, but they would be 10 times better if bone layers could bend any layer (which they should, you can always bind something to 1 bone if you don't want things to bend)

I hoped they had fixed these 2D problems before they implemented 3D tools. And I still hope they'll fix this. Anime Studio Pro is very powerfull 2D(!!!) animation software.

Yes, it would be great, but I don't think it would be a "fix". It implies a new paradigm about AS could work and have been asked as new feature several times.
Of course it would be awesome to have this feature right now, but I don't see it as a competition between 3d new features and all the other we could ask.

"fix" or "new feature", if I put something in a bone layer, I expect it to bend when I bend my bones.

Dear Smith Micro, please work on this.
It would improve Anime Studio Pro a whole lot! :)
