Coming Soon...

Post by InfoCentral »

I guess I spoke too quickly. First we had the book release and now it seems that there is already in production a training video for Anime Studio Pro that is being produced by VTC.

http://www.vtc.com/modules/products/tit ... opment.php

So, if you were think about doing this it is already being done. OTOH, there is still room for an Intermediate, Advanced or Specialty training videos for Anime Studio if someone is interested in doing that???

If all you want to do is a short or a couple of singles that you can post them here:

In the Blender community, people make individual video tutorials all the time, covering one specific subject: This is actually more handy than a program wide tutorial. Think of the value of a tutorial for say, masking - its not something people do every time and it s something which does cause people problems - downloading a two minute guide is ideal in that instance. So too would be scripting, importing 3D objects and the like.

Plenty of room for tutorials.

I don't see this as even being slightly close to "already done" -- first it's only on a list (a VERY long list) of videos "in development", which might mean it won't come out for months (years) or even ever. Second, I took a cursory look at some of the demos on the other software there are videos of and the quality is VERY sketchy -- some good, some very bad, and the vast majority mediocre (no wonder -- look at all the different authors).

Without in-depth investigation I'm guessing VTC is some sort of clearinghouse for tutorial authors, with very little vetting of who (or what) is produced. To even assume this will be done (or be worthwhile) is taking things with a very large dose of salt.

If/when this comes out and someone wants to post a review it would be helpful, but right now I consider this right next to vaporware (and if I were a betting man I'd say that AS 6.0 will be out LONG before this tutorial is ever available).

Speaking of tutorial, I just looked at this URL and recognized someone and was wondering if you studied under Doug Compton, of karmatoons.com?
It's one of the best all around tutorials I've been to, and it's free.
Check it out. To get to the homepage just erase everything in the URL back to the "m" in .com
You'll be glad you did.

VTC is like Linda.com, both produce online video tutorial subscriptions as well as selling the dvd's. Having been a subscriber for several years I can assure you in development means it is being done. There is no vaporware...sorry! If you want to buy one they sell these "vaporware" dvd's on Amazon.

Just received a reply from VTC to my message requesting the ETA on that title. They said it just went into production so it won't be ready for another 6-8 weeks.

You will have to ask my character designer and partner in crime. I have heard of and seen Doug's work before and to think about, I might have seen that character tutorial before ... I never saw the similarity before.

We recently tried to make an animateable duck - not matter what we tried, the darn thing kept looking either like Daffy or Donald or one of his kids. We scrapped the design and started afresh.

Please let me know if you have any questions on the tutorials. I try to respond to every question sent my way - in spite of the deadlines of the "real" job.

Mark,

Welcome to the AS forum. Just an idea here, but you might think about letting one or two of the AS pros here review one of your tutorials with more substance than the freebies. A good review from someone who has a reputation for knowing AS around here may help lead more newbies your way.

Just a thought.

Hey Mark!

Great job on the video! I really like the flow so far and I am learning a lot from it. Well done! :D
