A new version of synfig ( 0.61.08 ) will be released in one or two weeks. The developers of Synfig are going to concide its new release with the inminent Fedora 8 release, so this new Synfig version will be part of it.
There have been a lot of changes since the last release (october 9, 2007). See this link for further details.
The wiki has a more robust look now but it still need to be completed.
We still needing a Mac package mantainer. If someone can help on this please join the IRC and left your proposal there.
I just updated the Windows version of Synfig but I've forgotten a lot of stuff so I'll need to hit the wiki again. It's kind of hard to get excited about bug fixes, but I'll have reason to celebrate if they release a stable Windows version. Anyway, I recognized a couple of members on the new forum. Nice boat! What's for you a flash animation style?. It cannot export to flash (by now) if it is that what are referring to.
Now it is possible to import from svg. There is a conversion utility that converts a svg file to a sif (Synfig native) format. See this: http://synfig.org/Svg2synfig
Not possible import from swf by now.
Regarding to the forum, it is weird. Maybe are you referring to the wiki? I think we don't have CAPTCHA enabled in the forum. It works exactly as this one.
