my heads about to explode- need help with the lip synch

Post by kittyvibe »

Hi, Ive poured over the forums through about 30 pages, been all over the papa and moho tuts and Im having trouble with the--

"making my mouth layers move with the papagayo .dat file I made. "

I made separate .png files for each phenome in the correct format, and the mouth pieces are bound to the head so whatever layer is selected in the mouth folder it will show on my character. However, after making a new switch layer and adding my .dat from papa and importing my sound as the soundtrack no mouth animations occur. I know Im missing one tiny critical step but I cant figure it out. The moho tutorial gives already setup layers to "view" but I need to know how the heck to get this thingy going. ?dr. evil impression, "need the info".

My mouth files werent created on a "switch" layer but were brought in via layers within an image layer, if I was to double click the "mouth" folder layer I dont get an option for the switch layer, the last tab is the depth sorting. Any help is appreciated. Im guessing I need to somehow make my mouth folder onto a switch layer from the get go but I dont know how. Arg.

OK, three easy steps to follow here ...

1. Mouth position layers have to be inside the switch layer.
2. Mouth position layers have to be named exactly as the .dat file expects, upper/lower case included.
3. The .dat file has to be attached to the switch layer via "source data ...".

I bet you left out #2 - because that's not mentioned in the Tutorials. The layer names must be like this:

AI
O
E
U
etc
L
WQ
MBP
FV
rest

It doesn't matter if you don't have all those layers, or in which order. Just the names have to be correct.

(And I hope I didn't put a mistake in here because I just copied that from a piece of cardboard I made for reference ...)
