Beginner Needs Help :( ..!

Post by Momen Abbasi »

Hello ,
I have Got Anime Studio Pro 5.5 About 3 days ago , and i have a problem with putting items over others in 1 layer .. for example .. i have a shirt with buttons over it .. and when the hands of my character Moves they Move Under the Buttons ( The Buttons Appear Over The Hand ) ..
Is There Anyway To Send The buttons Back .. Or I'll Have To Make each part Of the Body IN a Spereated Layer .. ?
Regards ,

The "stack order within a layer" for shapes is very awkward, in my opinion. You have to select the shape with the "Fill Select" tool, and then march it up or down the order. Everybody has a different method for rigging characters; I try to keep it simple -- half a dozen layers or so, with switch layers for things like hands, mouths and eyes. In this particular case I would put one of the arms on a layer above, and the other below...but like I say, everyone is different!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

I would suggest installing the modified select shape tool. It's a life saver. It shows the number a selected shape is in the stack order, instead of having to guess.

viewtopic.php?t=1352&highlight=shape+order+tool

Here's the thread that explains how to use them.

And here's a zip of the files. In your ASP installation folder you'll find a 'scripts' and then a 'tool' folder. These are named the same as the original tools (and buttons) so you'll want to move the originals to a backup location (I just created a backup folder inside my 'tool' folder).

Just drop these new ones into the tool folder and have fun. Normally you'd need to also edit the '_tool_list.txt' so these would show up in your tool palette, but since these have the same names, they work with the previous hotkeys.

This is one of the most useful tools. Enjoy.
