Q #2 can you link multiple layers to one bone? I think you must be able to but am unsure.
Q #3 do bones affect the subsets of a GROUP FOLDER? or must bones be connected to each individual image/vector layer?
Q #4 when using bind points, must another form of bone be set up first (region?)
Q #5 cc bone strength, i believe that in order to use bind points, you must first turn this feature down to zero for each bone, is this true or false?
gonna try to "bone" my character now, will likely be back here posting in an hour or so to figure out what i did wrong.

thank you!!

PS, this section of the tutorial is what freaked me out:
"Although this method does work for binding points to bones, we don't really recommend it unless you have a special need to bind specific points to specific bones. You may have noticed that the arm doesn't move so smoothly with manual point binding. This is because the points around the elbow only move with one bone or the other, and so stretch apart and get distorted. With automatic binding, on the other hand, the points around the elbow move under the influence of both bones, and so move more smoothly. "
manual seems to steer you twds simpler solutions/approaches. that was worrisome. was good to hear that folks on this site regularly use bind points or almost exclusively use bind pts.
I once invested blood, sweat and tears into cinema4d only to learn later in a How-to book that "cinema 4D is not really geared towards character animation." So, I had to bite the bullet, use my student discount, and switch to maya.
