Problems nesting group layers

Post by rogermate »

I'm having problems trying to create some nested layers.

This is without any Bone Layer, but using group layers for a Sue, and a layer for SueHead and a Switch Layer for SueMouth.

I want SueMouth to go in the layer for SueHead so that rotation will affect both.

I'm aware that a group layer must be expanded in order to drag a new layer into it. I have ver 5.6 ASPro. I'm aware that the group layer turns red in the layer window prior to inserting, but I can next more than two layers. Or, trying to get a switch layer to share a parent layer doesn't work.

Note: there are no vector layers, these are all image layers in the switch layer as well as the non-switched layers are images.

Is there something else I need to do, or is there some bug with a work around? This must be able to be accomplished.

In the new version 5.6 you can't drag layers into or outside of group layers on any frame other than frame 0. You must be on frame 0 to move layers into or out of a group layer because of the new animated layer order feature.

That's it.

There seem to be a lot of these things that are not intuitive. I couldn't get my first vector layer square for a gradient background wash to fill. Turns out that the layer was somehow not checked Visible on the properties tab, have no idea how that was set or why a new layer defaults to invisible.

Slowly making progress.

This board helps a lot!

When you create new layers or draw new vectors or add points on any frame AFTER frame 0 Anime Studio has no reference key frame. So when you create a new layer on frame 24 it will be INVISIBLE up to that frame. It becomes visible at the frame you created it.

Start the habit of creating NEW things ONLY on frame 0. New layers, new points etc etc.

Thanks for that.

I watched a tutorial on youTube from a non-native English speaker explains how to use bones - part of my decision to buy AS Pro. I thought to myself why is he copying and pasting to frame 0 but things are finally making sense.

Shift Left-Arrow - gonna start using that a lot.
