think first, animate second ?

I don't know how to say this, but please bear with me.

Is it just me or has the animation field gotten meaner over the years?

I'm talking about people putting great artistic skill into productions which have a mean or violent message.

I want to make it clear that I'm not complaining about artists--I'm concerned about producers, the ones who commission projects, the ones with the money.

There never was a time when storytelling should have been used to divide us, but when I look at the world today, I really feel we need to think about what the effect that our art has.
