Anime Studio GUI Colors

Post by J. Baker »

From viewing another topic here, I decided to change the colors of Anime Studio. Which is something I hadn't really thought of doing before. And here's what I came up with...

Now I'm glad I did it as it takes the brightness off my eyes from the screen.

And of course, you go to EDIT, PREFERENCES to edit the gui colors. But you need to go to TOOL folder in the Anime Studio installation directory to edit _tool_list.txt so that you can change the colors for the TOOLS menu.
And if you want a black xp theme just download the Zune XP Theme. ;)

I saw the same topic and had the same idea. This "look" is very soothing to the eye. Of course it will take a little time to get use to it. Sometimes I find it hard to swtich but if the colors are "right" it feels better.

It would be nice if there were a way to save the settings. There is that "gizmo" for reseting window positions. I wonder if that could be used to automatically store and set interface color settings?

Wow...it looks great! Reminds me a lot of of Lightwave so I just tried resetting my AS colours and working with it but I had to put them back. I found the darker coloured interface really gets in the way of seeing the black outlines clearly as I use a lot of line width tweaking but thanks for the tip anyways.

Cheers

I like it. I'm actually playing with a darker color scheme as the default in the future. If you want to share this with others, look for the file "Anime Studio Pro.user.settings" in this folder

C:\Documents and Settings\***username***\Application Data\Lost Marble\Anime Studio Pro

This file holds all your preferences, including UI colors.

Also note that the canvas colors are separate from the rest of the UI, so you could have all your palettes and dialogs be dark, with a lighter canvas area.

Oh wow! So that's where script preferences are saved to. That 'Application Data' folder is hidden by default on XP.

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it. This also makes it nice to make sure the color contrast is some what correct. Trying to fill colors on something when everything is blooming white makes it a little harder.

As for the color values, here's what I used...

Under EDIT, PREFERENCES...

EDITOR COLORS

BACKGROUND 127 127 127
I left the rest the same for now.

GUI COLORS

BACKGROUND 127 127 127
WIDGET OUTLINE 0 0 0
WIDGET FILL 95 95 95
TEXT 0 0 0
DISABLED TEXT 157 157 157
TEXT HIGHLIGHT 207 207 207

C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Anime Studio Pro\Scripts\Tool\

I edited the _tool_list.txt to make all the colors to, 127 127 127 and left the 255 alpha values alone. There's a few colors to change in there.

Make sure to restart AS for all to take effect.
Hope this helps! ;)
