exporting with alpha

Post by toonertime »

i am wondering if i design a character in
AS can i export JUST the character to a PNG
with alpha?

i have tried saving in different
formats, but I always get the background
along with the character, so there is really
no way to manipulate just the character
in another program.

In order to get the alpha you need to make sure there is NOTHING behind what ever it is you want the alpha for. No layers with fills. That should work.

Also make sure you EXPORT animation rather than just doing a render. The single render doesn't give you the alpha when you try to save it out of that window. You have to use the export command.

You can also try exporting frames to Photoshop PSD (I think pro only). If you render to PSD it will render each top most AS layer as a Photoshop layer. Very handy. Some compositing applications support PSD format for importing.

If you want the export animated with alpha then Quicktime .mov (PNG or animation are good) millions of colours + (highest settings)
