space bar pan

Post by slice11217 »

Hi guys,

So I've figured out how to change the key commands to select tools based on my own key preferences (my favorite is 'V' for fazek's select point/bones tool), and I've been wondering if there's a way to disable the space bar from playing the timeline and reassigning it to pan the work area. I'd personally prefer to set the 'return' key for playing the timeline which would bring it to align with Flash, or perhaps I would assign '(zero)' which would align it with After Effects.

I tried to do this in the _tools_list document but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to accomplish this, or does it involve re-coding ASPro?

Thanks

Space bar for playback is hard coded. You can disable it using the ScriptName and a few other modifications from the LM tools that disable it, but even so, there's absolutely no way to assign playback to another key.

And there's no way to reassign the right mouse button.

Thanks Synthsin.

I hadn't noticed that the right mouse button pans the screen, I've been using an older mouse (mac) for quite a while now and recently switched to the new one, which took some adjusting to. Anyway, I just wanted the key commands in AS to be aligned with some of the other software I use and one of the ones that have always annoyed me is that you can't use the space bar to pan the screen, and <cmd>+ or <cmd>- doesn't zoom in or out. I still reach for these keys even though I could use the wheel on the mouse.

I had noticed that on a mac if you press control-shift you can zoom in and out, and if you just press control you can pan. Still, when I shift to using After Effects or Flash I end up being a little disoriented. That's why I wanted to find a way to make AS use the same keys as the other softwares.

Thanks again,

I'd bet those other software has better hotkey configuration, so why not change those to follow the AS scheme?
