First character/animation in Anime Studio, comments plz

Post by GCharb »

Hello all

Hi everyone!

Had AS for a bit but only had time to learn/use it 2-3 days ago, so here comes my first, unfinished character I must say, could not wait and animate it, I am weak I know!

http://ilvf2w.bay.livefilestore.com/y1p ... v?download
760 kb Quicktime

I have no real personal space at the moment, so it is on my live space, sorry for the inconvinience.

Nice shoulder deformation. I love the line work. Is that done with vectors in AS or is it image deformation? My guess would be vector but I'm not sure.

Hello Heyvern and thanks for the comment

It is all vector, from a drawing, here is a small version of it. Also added the right arm in the above Quicktime.

Compared to any 2D package I used, AS is by far the most fun!

Nice artwork. How long did it take you to get that awesome line work done? Did you use pressure sensitivity of the freehand tool or adjust the line width individually (perhaps with the magnet line width tool)?

Hello again!

The above image was not done in AS.

If you refer to the Quicktime, I first made the shading, copied the layer then used it to make the contour lines.

The shading I made by simply following the ref image, I make a rough contour, then turn those to peaks then adjust curvature manually for each part.

The whole thing, including bones and animating the shoulder took roughly 2 hours.

Well thank ya very much! :)

Will try to finish it today, actually thinking about making a short in AS, I think it is the right tool for that kind of animation!
