glowing effect
Is there a way to make a glow effect in AS like the glow from a light or space engines? I've tried using a semi transparent circle with a bright color but it doesn't really look like something is glowing or giving off light. In flash this is a relatively easy thing to do.Maybe it needs to be done in post in another program

Create a vector layer (or several) with the colour and shape of your glow-effect.
In the Style-panel apply a Soft Edge with a Blur radius of about 200.
(you have to experiment what Blur radius fits your needs)

thanks I'll try that. I checked out the other video clips besides flicker. was the waving flag done in AS?

Well, this flag was created and rendered with Cinema 4D...
This is actually very easy to do with Cinema 4D’s Wind-Deformer.
I just used a Bezier NURBS, adjusted the size and form (one might like and leave the square format if preferred)
dragged a Wind-Deformer into it, adjusted Position, and some of the Wind-Deformers Object Properties, and here you go...
You might like and try the Demo-Version, fully functional and unlimited, just Save-disabled.

When ready you might like and download the Project “waving_flag.zip” from my iDisk.

Doing this flag in Anime Studio, you might like and use this flag as reference... one could just animate the points, very easy and simple...
even more easier, use a chain of bones to animate the flag...
(this might not be as realistic as animating points...
but, aren’t we in cartoon-country...?)
Cheers

synthsin75, did u get an image layer and then used bones to make that? Really impressive, and if I may say so myself, really clever.

Thanks, SJ. Yeah, the flag pole is a vector layer, and the flag is an image layer warped by bones. The bone rig is set up with constraints so that one bone's rotation controls the whole wave.
The only thing I don't like about it, is that there is one frame that the flag is completely straight. At speed you don't notice so much, but it's just not so realistic.
