Help! Exporting to Flash messed up!

Post by TheChewanater »

For some reason, when I exported this project to .SWF, about half way through it just showed a single frame, not moving. I tried getting the 5.6 upgrade, and now it just creates a blank file instead of a flash movie. If someone knows what I'm doing wrong, or at least can export the movie yourself and post it here, I would greatly appreciate it.

An image in it

Also, don't question its weirdness unless you're familiar with "Youtube Poops" and "Morshu the Shopkeeper".

First off the file extension is incorrect. It wouldn't open in AS until I removed the "i". The extension is not ".anime" it is ".anme" with no i.

I don't know for sure if this would have an effect but generally I avoid putting "odd" characters in file names, like apostrophes. I have had situations where AS files won't work properly with unusual characters in the file or folder names.

As for flash export, there are some things that just won't get exported or exported "well". Check the help for info on flash export. I think there is an appendix or addendum entry in the help that talks about optimizing for flash.

I successfully exported your animation to SWF without doing anything more than fixing the extension, removing the apostrophe from the file name and relinking the image layer.

I won't bother uploading it because the SWF is 9mb. Not worth the effort. If you move things with bones or don't get that "red dot" on the layer the layer is not "optimized" for Flash export. This results in HUGE files because each frame is a unique "instance" in Flash. This is covered in the help.

It could be that the file is very large and is tasking the computer which is why it isn't exporting properly. It took a long time for me to export however I'm using a very slow Mac.

Helpful tip:

Hide layers that aren't used during the animation. Set them to invisible. For instance that BIG head of to the left. If it is not hidden or invisible it is rendered and displayed which slows everything down.

sorry about the extension, I accidentally deleted it, so I renamed it (apparently incorrectly). But I still don't know why it showed one still frame before. I'll try fixing the name and optimizing it, and thanks for the quick response.
