Newbie question Exporting in highest resolution for DVD

G'day from Australia.

I have just purchased Anime Studio Pro. Wow what a great program. I am very impressed. Way back in 1960 (that ages me a bit doesn't it ) I created a little cartoon of about 4 seconds. It took about a day to create.

My question for the experts here is

What is the best format and resolution to export an animation in so that it can be burnt to a DVD. In Australia we use the PAL format?

I will take the file into Vegas Movie Studio Platinum for burning to DVD.

I hope some kind soul out there will assist with a clear and simple explanation.

Well, I would recommend creating all new projects in HDTV 1920 x 1080...
(leaving plenty of room for exporting later to any smaller size if necessary)
(minimum for TV would be PAL 16:9 = 1024x576 / or 4:3 = 768x576 both 25 frames)

Personally, I export from Anime Studio, depending on the project, either in 1920x1080
or 1280x720 as image sequence (PNG or PSD), open those sequences with QuickTime
and import them into Final Cut Express for further editing and compositing.

Exporting those files for encoding into iDVD or Toast...

If you like to export as QuickTime Movie, choose “Animation” with High Quality.
Import those files into your burning software...

Whatever you choose, “Image Sequence” or “QuickTime Movie”
keep the compression to a minimum until burning... the better the quality...
