can non pro version of anime studio export as sequential png

Post by Holymonkey »

Hi everyone.

I'd like to purchase Anime studio (standard version) but need to make sure it can export as sequential 24 bit png images WITH alpha transparency for the background.

Is this the case?

thanks

AS standard won't export to image sequence.

I thought it might be possible to export an AVI from AS Standard, using an alpha-supporting codec like Lagarith or Huffyuv, and then a third party tool like VirtualDub to export the AVI as a PNG image sequence. Sounded good in principle, and it worked fine for non-alpha exports. However, neither of those codecs will export the transparency, even when configured appropriately. So, assume that is a limitation of AS Standard.

Workarounds might be to export a "green screen" style animation, then chroma key that to get the desired alpha'ed PNGs. Or export the animation as a Flash movie, then output the PNGs from that. But both approaches have their drawbacks, compared to the simplicity of exporting PNGs straight from AS Pro.

You can export with transparency to Quicktime MOV in AS Standard. Using the Animation codec and selecting its Millions of Colors+ setting. Then if you really need a sequence you'd need to do something like Hurst suggests.

Hi,

I have the same problem. I am very disappointed that I can't export single images. I tried an old Moho version before....

I have installed huffyuv now. If I open the export dialog (File/Export Animation...), then I see the normal option "AVI Movie". How I can export avi with huffyuv?

Thanks.

PS: I use Anime Studio 5.6

It's actually possible to export a movie with alpha?

I have tested:
- Lagarith v1.3.20
- huffyuv 1.3.1
- Quicktime

In every case I see the Anime Studio grey in the background.
What am I doing wrong?

Try Quicktime Millions of Colours +. The "+" is important -- this is the alpha channel...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
