I need Anime Studio now, but do I wait for 6 or get 5.6 now?

Post by nadafarms »

Hi, I need to get Anime Studio asap and have downloaded the trials and it's awesome. I just don't know if I can buy 5.6 now and upgrade for free when 6 comes out shortly.

Super frustrating, my dad and I are both in this limbo. We don't want to buy 5.6 now then have to pay again when 6 comes out soon.

Any advice? Is there anyway to pay to unlock my Anime 6 trial?

thanks, I plan on becoming active on this forum I just love anime studio and am so excited about 6.

Luckily you don't have to worry. They've stated there is a 30 day window during which folks who buy 5.6 can upgrade for free.

Now, just to be sure, when you DO buy 5.6 order it direct from SM via phone and make sure you get the name of the salesperson and have them confirm that you will be eligible for the upgrade.

cool! thanks a ton.

now one more question, I've seen the 5.6 selling for $100 on ebay and $200 from smith micro. do you think it will be available for significantly less if I don't buy direct from SM?

Most likely you'll have to purchase directly from SmithMicro in order to receive the update.

eBay (aka piratebay) copies aren't supported at all. You're best off purchasing directly from Smith Micro or from another official source like an Apple Store. Make sure to keep your receipt if you're not purchasing directly from SM.

The 100 dollar AS pro on ebay is 'Anime Studio Pro 5.0 ACADEMIC' So your school can buy this and put it on their computer, but you not suppose to use this at your home.

Academic license is for someone like me who is thinking about setting up a class at my local vocational school. As long as the program is on the school computer, no problem. But if you can not take it home. The price would most likely be even cheaper if some people would stop abusing these licenses.

I did find one selling for $71.99. If it's legit you can buy it and up grade. Proving they give you a receipt of the sale. But if it is. Most likely another academic license.

I got a legit copy of 5.6 pro on eBay about a month ago. It was still sealed in a very official looking box - so if it was pirated they did a hell of a job with the counterfitting. Sadly I don't think I'll make the 30 day window to upgrade.

No, wait until the release and contact customer service. That what I plan to do.
