Proper use of lip sync?

Hey,

I have been really trying to figure this out and their don't seem to be too many tutorials on how to properly lip sync characters mouths. I know of Papagayo and all of those other programs, I know how to manually do it in Anime Studio Pro...

but is their a basic tutorial anyone could show me and or make that shows how to really match up audio with lips in ASP. This right now is my only barrier to making my animation.
