I'm just going through the particles tutorials, and the smoke looks pretty cool.
Was wondering what would be the best approach for Mist, like a fog bank.
Would particles be best, or would an image layer of a bunch of semi-transparent dots made in Gimp be better?
One objective is to highlight parts of the mist like with a car's headlights.
I'm guessing a mask could reveal a more intense layer of mist to indicate the light beam.
Mist, as opposed to smoke

Here another way. Open AS5.6 use the splotchy with some softedge under the styles. Then add some Blur radius in the layer stetting and turn down the layer opacity.
Then import it into AS6. Once in you should stretch it and add a gradient mask.
You have to do it in AS5.6 because the splotchy was left out in the update, err I mean down-date of the program.
