How can I get the sound to be better?
I'm having serious issues with my sound. On my PC the video sounds fine; However, When my project has been burned to a DVD and I play it back on my HD Television the sounds are all muffled. I am at a total loss. I dont have any idea about the best audio formats, Or Hz.... Is this a digital to analog thing? What am I missing here. How can I fix my audio without having to re-record everything?
When it "sounds muffled" is it also at a slightly different pitch? Does it end up being longer or shorter than the video?
I always suspect an incorrect Hz setting when this sort of thing happens (you need to use the same setting from beginning to end), but that's just one potential problem.
Could you give a step-by-step of how you're doing the sound, from the way you record it (and the software you use) to the way you make the DVD? Also, does the DVD play back correctly on your computer at least?
It wouldn't be a digital-to-analog problem, if you're recording this entirely on your computer then it's all digital. But it might be a problem if your audio/video programs are converting back and forth between formats and audio settings.
Cheers,
Muffy.

Most pc's have generic sound cards and speakers. And are by no means good for editing professional audio. But here's some tips.
Use decent speakers. I have M-Audio Studiophile AV 40.
Better quality soundcard. I use a M-Audio Revolution 5.1
Use a preamp. Again I use a M-Audio Buddy. Have to use a 1/4" to 3.5mm cable to hook it up to the sound cards line-in (not mic-in).
Buy a XLR Mic and cable. I have a few of these. Dynamic mics are good as they pick up little background pc noise. Such as fans.
In your audio editor, normalize before exporting. This makes sure the audio level doesn't go above 0db.
That's just the basics. And to cut cost, I would at least recommend a decent mic and preamp. Then just normalizing your audio.
