This is the first time I have used switch layers so admittedly I may be doing something wrong.
I have got the interpolation to work for lip synching. However, any other switch layer though is not interpolating - even on the render.
As I am only experimenting, I'm using the precomposed character 'Jace' who came with it - hence it is not likely to be an issue created by my dodgy composing methods.
I did the same for the mouth layer as I did for the others.
There was one difference between the mouth layer and the others. I selected an audio sync source - this appears to make a difference as when I added a random mouth movement the interpolation did not work to this new keyframe - i.e. it simply switched at that frame.
So why will interpolation work when I add an audio source but not otherwise?
As mentioned in the users manual, interpolation only makes a smooth transition "as long as they’re all vector layers and contain the same number of points."
I'm looking at the Jace character and it's apparent that the switch layers don't all have the same number of points (compare "Blink" and "Eyes Open"). SOME of them do -- in which case interpolation will work for those pairs -- but not all of them.
I suspect your mouth movement worked because the layers switch fast enough in lip-sync that you don't notice non-interpolating pairs in the animation, and some of the mouths probably CAN interpolate...but that would be a fluke.
It doesn't work with Jace because Jace's switch layers don't appear to be intended for interpolation.
No trouble! I'm a newbie, so all this troubleshooting is teaching me more about Anime Studio AND allowing me to sound like a smart*ss at the same time!
