I posted a post a while back about creating backgrounds, and I just wanted to say that using gimp with a thin brush then coloring with advanced shading techniques works best.

I agree. Why use Gimp when you have AS? This would be much more versatile done with AS since it would have been drawn with vectors.
You could always render something like this out separately and load it in as a PNG or a MOV. Plus you could zoom in on areas like the tree trunk later without losing resolution.
Yeah! nice background, I like the design, but I think the tree doesn't work well with that position/size...unless you want to animate characters on its back.
I just don't really know how to work with backgrounds well in AS.
But its very easy! you can do in AS what you did here and do it better.
Just take the drawing tools and use gradient and brushes to get intereting textures.
I redid it in anime studio and i love it, it's way better than the gimp one.
I don't know how to save it as an image file for you guys to see but its basically the same thing except with thinner vector lines and I moved the tree a little back in perspective.
