Backgrounds....again

Post by Mylenthes »

I posted a post a while back about creating backgrounds, and I just wanted to say that using gimp with a thin brush then coloring with advanced shading techniques works best.

Good work but you can achieve better results with AS.

I agree. Why use Gimp when you have AS? This would be much more versatile done with AS since it would have been drawn with vectors.

You could always render something like this out separately and load it in as a PNG or a MOV. Plus you could zoom in on areas like the tree trunk later without losing resolution.

AS Debut lacks of many drawing tools, like the dual shape effect or the split curve script.
Maybe he needs some tool that AS doesn't have.
Sorry for my bad english... Q_Q

Yeah! nice background, I like the design, but I think the tree doesn't work well with that position/size...unless you want to animate characters on its back.

Its nice, but I'd personally recommend using a natural media simulator such as artrage- way better results
Anime Studio, Xara Xtreme 4, Magix Movie Edit Pro 11, Papagayo, Ableton Live 8, Artrage Deluxe

I think we should first admire the work than to modify it. Its true though AS would have been abetter choice.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I just don't really know how to work with backgrounds well in AS.

But its very easy! you can do in AS what you did here and do it better.
Just take the drawing tools and use gradient and brushes to get intereting textures.

I'm going to redo it in anime studio, even though i'm not very good at backgrounds in AS. I'll still try lol.

I redid it in anime studio and i love it, it's way better than the gimp one.

I don't know how to save it as an image file for you guys to see but its basically the same thing except with thinner vector lines and I moved the tree a little back in perspective. :)
