freehand tools and 3D
I use the freehand tool a lot. In ASP 7 it seems that the functionality of the freehand tool is reduced. I can't set the pixel tolerance or the angle tolerance any more.
Where can I ajust the freehand settings?
I need these functions. In fact, I think the freehand tool needs a lot of improvement. If only one could draw as comfortable as in FLash (pardon me for using the F-word).
I hope the focus will be on drawing tools and 2D, rather than half-baked 3D tools for ASP v8. It's better to keep ASP the unique 2D software that it is.

Whoah! Can anyone verify this? If freehand tool is in decline, I might have to stick with AS5.6!! I need fully functioning freehand tool baby!
It might be an elaborate work around which annoys some people, but is it an option to use the freehand tool someone made for AS6, and would it work in 7? (It was the same tool but with more control, from memory.)

Hang on, maybe the sky isn't falling.
Try Rudiger's freehand script here:

It was for AS6, hopefully it runs in AS7
Also I think Wes Synthsin made a further tweak which allows tapering ends......
But I can't find it.
Could someone please let me know if Rudiger's freehand tool works in AS7? It makes a significant difference to me that the freehand tool work well in AS7.

freehand tool has been improved on AS7. The angle and pixel tolerance are deleted because now it calculated itself depending of the curve you draw.
I have tried myself on version 6 and 7 and the results on 7 always seems to be better.

I never used the freehand tool much before AS 7.
While testing AS 7 I created a couple of characters entirely from scratch using the freehand tool and a wacom pad. It was FUN and worked great. I was pleased with how few extra points it created. It didn't require a ton of clean up. I did sketch the character ahead of time. A rough sketch on a piece of paper. I then laid that sketch on my wacom pad and "traced" it into Anime Studio. Worked great.
I think I will use it more in the future.

I am going to animate a friends drawing and I used the freehand to trace his image and it worked very well in AS7. Its not done but this is only like an hrs work because I didn't have to delete a lot of points and the line seemed to go right where i wanted it to go when I deleted a point.
P.S. Its kinda funny for this subject to come up right when I was using the freehand tool today.

more points
I like to have more points on my line. That was so great about the v6 freehand tool. I could draw hundreds of points. Or I could choose to draw a line with only a few points. It's a shame that I am no longer able to choose.
