leg problems

Two problems here. The first is illustrated with my mark I legs on the left. The knee joint looks fine when the leg is straight, but when the leg is bent, the knee is ridiculously thin. I've tried putting the junction between thigh and shin bones high low in the thigh, high in the shin, at the anatomical pivot point, to the front of the knee, to the back of the knee, and still the problem persists. I've tried longer and shorter bones, overlapping bones, extra bones that move in sympathy in a dozen ways with the main bones to hold the flesh out, but so far I've had no luck. So, how does one make a joint that doesn't get squeezed into over-smallness when flexed?

The second problem I'll tackle in another post, because for some reason this software won't enable me to write any more than this in one go.

Leg problem 2

Post by Lindybeige »

The second (and first) problem is illustrated on the right with the MkII legs. The foot for these legs (they are copies of each other) worked PERFECTLY until without warning or explanation it suddenly stopped working. The foot has two bones in it, and the one linking the shin bone to the toe bone is no longer taking its foot part with it. On the right the foot bones are in the frame 0 position, and the foot looks fine. On the left, the foot bones are flexed downwards, and you can see that the toes have come with the foot, but not the rest of the foot.

Any ideas?

Hi Lindy! The automatic bone binding is just not very good for elbows and knees. I recommend you search the manual for manual (point) binding and after you're comfortable with that search the forum for the mandcon rig. Those should help with both of the problems you've encountered.
