walk cycle with images

Post by uddhava »

Hello,

I want to create a walk cycle for a character that I created with cut out images, but I notice that onion skinning does not work with images that are manipulated with bones. Any suggestions on how to get an accurate walk cycle?

I did that a lot, but instead of separate images I used a short Quicktime loop. I animated my character in place, then dragged the movie over the stage. Adjusted endpoint in time until the feet didn't slip. Use linear interpolation.

I've used this technique a bit too, but in my case I actually made 4 or8 different images (as layers in photoshop) and put them in a switch layer. It looks nice but it does take a bit longer to create.

Hmmmmm, I'm using bones to manipulate the images, but using switch layers sounds like a good idea. I could duplicate the character's layer in ASP and then set up the keyframes in each layer so they register properly, create the animation using switch layers and then output the cycle as Quicktime PNG format so I save the alpha channel. I'll try that.

Thanks for the help. I hope it works.
