Hello! ASP7 and Poser8 Bundle $199

Post by Mikey »

Hi Animators!

I picked up Anime Studio Pro 7 and Poser 8 for $212 and change at this link:

http://my.smithmicro.com/marcom/eblasts ... comicduo2/

I found the link from twitter, and had to pull the trigger at this price - it's a sale related to Comic-con. The sale goes trough Digital River, and I had some warnings the past few days about the site certificate being expired? I'm hoping SM just didn't have their act completely together...

I've had ASD6 for a while, but not spent the time to learn it... I made a very short animation in Moho years ago, when I was introduced to it in a 3D animation class at the local junior college. Anyway, I hope to spend some time getting up to speed with ASP7, and use some of the pro and v7 features. I have dreamt of making cool animation for too long, it's hard for me to get started. (I'm kind of a perfectionist/procrastinator - a bad combo for doing anything creative (or anything for that matter!)) I need to dream big, but start small...

Thanks to all the posters here who freely give of their time and talent to help us new users along - this site is an incredible resource because of you.

Thanks,
Mikey a.k.a Michael Gramps

I'm confused. Why does this poster have 1 post in 13 months and it looks like a phishing?

I've been following moho/ASP for quite some time, and was excited to find a deal on the pro version of Anime Studio. I'm a lurker, not a phisher. I'm not an experienced user, so haven't really felt like I could contribute to the forum here. I have been reading along though. I had forgotten that I had even registered here those many months ago.

No malicious intent here - just excited to maybe help others get the software at a discount.

Take care,
Mike

I found the original link from the Contentparadise twitter page:

Can't make it to Comic-Con? U can still get our killer tradeshow offer: Poser 8 & Anime Studio 7 Pro for $199.99 http://bit.ly/czAAAZ
1:51 AM Jul 8th via CoTweet

I thought it would have been nice if it had been posted here, too...
It seemed legit enough to me, though I payed via paypal just in case.
I really have no personal interest in anyone else buying this. I just feel like I need to kind of defend myself and help clear up any confusion. And yes, I always make a great first impression!

Thanks,
Mike

LOL, Np i been looking into this and it seems legit, I do apologize but I hope you can understand the amount of spam that comes through here.

It looks like SM is offering AS7 pro for 88 U.S.A. dollars and Poser 8 for 111 U.S.A. dollars. TBH that's a really nice deal. It's just the way the web site was made that I had concerns about, the SM logo was not linked to their web site and the images are all badly cut out using an editor and imported to that site.

My business partner is on vacation at Comic-Con in San Diego. He found the Smith Micro booth. All those companies do big Comic-Con "specials" with big discounts and bundles. Now is a good time to buy stuff because a lot of the time they offer the same deals to everyone. They will hand out stuff at the show with a link to a special deal or promotion.

Sometimes you can get AMAZING bargains. I know from talking to Hash people that they pay for the whole trip to a show like that just from sales of Animation Master at the booth.

-------------------------

My biz partner talked to Jason Cozy and Sarina Dupont from Smith Micro at their booth today. When he gave Sarina his business card she said "Where's Vern?". He shot a short video of Jason demoing AS with my fritz character and them saying hi to me! That just made my whole day. ;) Nice to see faces to go with the voices on the phone and emails. Wish I could be there... maybe next year.

Good sized booth for a Comic Con from what I saw in the video. From what my partner told me that place is HUGE, like 4000 booths. I was there years ago for Siggraph but it wasn't even close to the size of a Comic Con.

p.s. You should meet them if you get a chance to see them at a show like that. Some of you may not be so critical of Smith Micro when you meet and talk to the people doing all the work in person. It puts a face on the faceless company. Changes your perspective. You realize they are hard working people just like us trying to do what they can to satisfy their customers and make a product that sells.

Thank you for the apology. Yes, I had my concerns about the site too, and like I said I used paypal to pay and the order was processed through the Digital River Commerce System. I got serials and download links from smithmicrocs@digitalriver.com. I really wish someone official could have given us the link here, because yes that ad looks slapped together, and I had trouble with the site certificate for about a week. I wasted too much time myself worrying if the site was safe, trying to see if the twitter post was legit, and even emailed smithmicro customer service last Saturday to inquire about the site and sale. I have heard Nothing back to this day! Frankly it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, and now there is nothing to do but get some characters designed and animated... but first I'm going to watch little Eye Candy from the Happy Tree Friends for inspiration...
