Extending a Scene

Post by TruroNeil »

Help! I know it's a silly beginner question but I have to ask it. I've imported a meadow and added a few trees. I have a mouse that scurries across the scene. He gets to the other side and I'm done. I can't find out how to extend the scene or move the drawing board past the 120 frame. I'm not usually this stupid, but ... I've just got Anime 7 Pro and I like its potential, and I don't want to get bogged down over something that's probably very simple. Thanks. Neil

Hi... if I understand correctly what you need to do is set the number of total frames in this box
Image

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The left box is the current frame view and the right one the total project frames. When you change the total number of frames you will see the blue color in the timeline for the exact amount that you have inputed in that right box. I hope that helps.

Thanks, but let's continue ...

Thanks. That hepls in part. I've re-done my animation. My mouse, however, is at the right edge of the scene, only his tail showing, and it's key frame 72. How do I keep drawing ? How do I extend the meadow, the background scene ? Do I import a new background and have it begin at frame 72. But to keep moving I need the key frame (72) and the mouse to be on the left of the drawing board or workspace. Does this make sense ? I'm glad I'm retired! I've got time for this stuff. Neil

Extending a Scene and backgroud

Post by TruroNeil »

Hi, will try to explain again. If I have two characters walking and talking and they come to the right hand edge of the scene or workspace. Do they have to turn around ? Can't one extend the background and have them continue their walk and talk ? What about boating down a river ? How does one continue the boat ride and the river ? Thanks for your interest. Neil

I think once you reach the right edge of the screen you have to cut to a screen that says 'THE END'

Seriously though, you can extend the background in photoshop or import it again and put it next to the old one (but it will have to mix properly or you'll see a seam!)

often, if you don't want the characters to come of the screen, you could have them looping in place (in the center) like a boat or a mouse, and have JUST the background moving to make it look like thye are moving...

If you have enough background to the side after you import it again or extend it, you could use a camera pan to catch up to the mouse or boat... this is another option, but you have to decide what you're trying to achieve.

Good Suggestions

Post by TruroNeil »

Perhaps I will do flat-earth animations where characters go across the scene and fall-off. Maybe they'd drop from Canada to New Zealand. Will try some of your suggestions. Thanks, - Neil

Look at both these videos to see what funk means. Also one other way is when you get to the edge cut the shot then re-add the background and zoom in or out and continue with the next Shot. Different frame sizes are a good way to splice shots together.

Thanks to all who responded and helped. I found a way to bring the mouse back - he didn't fall off the flat-earth. I also decided how to add a speech or thought balloon which seemed to end it. I even uploaded it to YoutTube and I think you can view it there:

I think I posted it as Mousecapade 1 and for public viewing, but it may get lost in Mickey Mouse videos.

That's it for now. It's night time in Nova Scotia!
