ASPRO 7.1 Problems, Which version is most stable?

Post by freddykrueger »

Ok so here are all of my problems.

1. Exporting almost anything that has sound crashes when rendering into animation.

With sound, the work around is easy. Do the lip syncing and delete it. Then use an editing program (Adobe Premier, Vegas...) and put the sound with the clip and export again. PITA but its workable.

2. Using rudigers script and exporting the animation crashes the program. I tried baking the morphs but it still crashed.

3.I am having problems with playing the time line and moving the characters (can't recall the technical term for it right now). Instead of recording that same motion with key frames the program makes fewer frames and the motion is only recorded at the very end. At this point it makes it very jerky. It is more like lag than anything else. Even if I turn the lowest preview setting it still is very choppy.

I have a 6 core AMD processor with 16gigs of Ram, this should not be a problem.
ASP7.0 did that quite a bit better.

Now add all the rest of the crashing complaints with the multi core rendering and there you have it.

I keep hearing that version 6 is solid. Is this true, and which version is the most solid and reliable?

I have been using flash and toon boom to finish up a project that I used ASP7.1 to create all the assets in. It was a pain but now I know flash and toon boom that much better. I however, have realized just how much better ASP is in creating vector art and characters than Flash. So, I am hoping they get this shit straightened out.

Your site has a number of links to 'Demo Reel' -- couldn't get any of them to work. I liked your artwork -- showed good drawing ability and knowlege of colour. In terms of Anime Studio stability, I have stuck with version 5.6, which I have found very solid and reliable.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Sorry for that,

I had designed that website when Lucas Arts asked to see my work. Ultimately I ended up doing a bit of concept art, but did not get the job. So, what I did is bury my demo reel under a category page so that only people that I want should see it. So, in order to view it you have to click on the category and than click on the post and the video will pop up.

I have decided to start my own company and I am working on few animated things for commercials locally here in Denver.

The biggest thing for me was to get a good pipeline going between Adobe and Anime Studio Pro so that I can get toons made as quickly as possible. I actually really like ASP as the drawing tool, its a lot easier for me to draw in it than Flash or even Toon Boom.

I also prefer to draw stuff on paper and then scan it and trace by mouse. I've actually gotten pretty good with ASP to where I don't even need a tracing image to design characters.

Either way, I will try 6.0 and see what happens. I tried boot legging it, but I just don't feel honest about it, so I stopped. Going to buy 6 and see what happens.

:)
