Post animating editing....

Hey guys and girls,
I use anmie studio pro 7 to make my cartoons.

I have a bit of an issue... I've used a few different programs in the past to edit my final cartoons together. I started like most people with movie maker, then a friends premiere pro, which, was awesome to work with, but, every time I rendered something, the aspect ratio changed.

So, now I export my animation as a quicktime mov then paste it together in quicktime pro, which, is fine...but, when I want a piece of music to go over the top or anything post edit, I just can't do it.

I've just been trying to export a video to an .avi so, I could at least edit it with movie maker...but, I just keep getting to small or to blurrly...and when I export from anime studio in avi the file played slow, whilst the audio was fine.

I guess what I'm asking here is for a bit of guidance as to what format I should be rendering in, so, the file has audio... atm the moment I'd like to be able to figure out how to do it with movie maker just cause I'm broke and can't afford a new bit of software, but, any idea of what software I should use in the future would also be great...there is a birthday always round the corner after all...

Any guidance at all will be greatly appreaciated, I animate everyday and this is becoming the bain of my life , please help...

Go back to premiere and check all your settings - pixel aspect ratio might be your problem? either way, there's no doubt that the issues you're having with outputing from Premiere are settings issue, just look into it more carefully.

At the minute, I don't have access of premiere pro, my computer had a bit of a blow out before christmas and when it came back from the computer shop none of my adobe stuff worked.

It is possible to create decent video quality with iMovie and MovieMaker, it's just a question of using a good workflow and correct settings. For about 250$ you could get FinalCut Express or some analog Windows product.

Some hints.
- Always render uncompressed best quality from AS, because these files don't get published, only imported into your video editor. Don't worry about not being able to play back these.
- Sound in AS should only be used for sync, but not get exported. Do the sound editing in the video editor.
- Choose correct pixel dimensions from the very beginning.
- Once your film is completed within the video editor, it can be exported in different sizes.
- Export the final product (which you want to distribute or upload) with a good codec like H.264.
- If you want to make DVDs, export in good quality from video editor. The DVD program will take care of the rest.
