a lit candle affect

Post by mixtrik »

hi everyone! hope all is well. I am a level 2 noob on AS pro 8, but I feel the more questions I ask, the more I will learn to appreciate this beautiful software more. I have searched the boards for the answer to my question, but to no avail.

How can i produce a lit-candle effect? Preferably something realistic. Any thoughts or a link to thread I may have missed?

Here look at this file it might give you ideas. I used the smoke script because it has a nice fire but I deleted the smoke. I used a vector shape for the glow that has the soft edge effect to it and the alpha turned down low. I then set-up a cycle for the glow that scales up and down to simulate the flicker. I just did this quickly to show you, the fire needs to be re-timed to a slower speed and the key frames for the flicker should be set to step. Hit ctrl+r to see the effect. Hope this gives you some ideas.
