Zooming and panning could be better. Perhaps using the mouse wheel to zoom and pan (press and drag to pan and roll to zoom). Also would be nice to include a zoom window feature to quickly select a region of interest.

The mouse wheel does zoom. If you drag with the right mouse button, you can pan the workspace, regardless of the active tool. Hold down shift while right-dragging to zoom. Generally, I never use the actual Pan and Zoom tools, just these shortcuts.
If you go to the Edit->Preferences dialog, you can change zooming to work with a drag box like you describe, instead of zooming in and out on the center point.

Great to know. Thanks!Lost Marble wrote:.... Hold down shift while right-dragging to zoom...
Once again, thanks! I appreciate having this preference option because, for my work style, dragging a box to zoom saves me time and effort.Lost Marble wrote: If you go to the Edit->Preferences dialog, you can change zooming to work with a drag box like you describe, instead of zooming in and out on the center point.
