Issues with layer styles and effects

Post by mediabob »

Hi. I am new to Anime Studio, and have been having a go at learning the program. The main issue I am having is applying fill styles and effects. It seems sometimes they want to work and sometimes they don't, and sometimes I fill a shape and it takes a fill style from nowhere and apply it even though I have not set one yet.

Have a look at the pic below, the left image is from the editor, the right image is the preview:

On the ears, the shadow do not show up in the editor but they do during the preview test. The shadow on the face shows up in both the editor and the preview pic. The Line width around the face is set to slightly thicker than one, the editor reflects this but then when I preview it I get a thick fat line (I assume that is the default of 4?). The cheeks have a style applied to them, but it shows up in neither place.

I try applying styles and they have no effect, and why is it that sometimes the stroke box is grayed out and I can't un-check it?

This is pretty frustrating and I can;t work out why it behaves the way it does. I should also add that all those pieces are on separate layers, and ticking the advanced check box and trying to set things there does nothing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Take a look at this thread: Color change issue and style editing bug?????
The video in the thread should answer some of your questions.

For your specific problems I'd recommend posting the file via file hosting site.

Actually... that video solved all my problems, thanks!

I didn't have any specific problems, just lack of knowledge on how to use the software. I went through the beginners guide but it did not address that part very well, and Google was not being very friendly at addressing my specific problem :P .

Now that I understand it, all is well.
