Trouble importing certain .psd files into Anime Studio 8

Having some trouble with two .psd files that my artist sent to me. Here is what I am doing:

File/Import/Image select either of the two photoshop files. I am then prompted to import individual files or composite. When I select individual nothing happens. Not even an error. When I choose composite I get a broken link icon.

We are using the latest AS 8 which has the ability to import photoshop files and it works with some of our older files, however he states that nothing was done different on his end when creating these to cause this issue. We are using Photoshop CS2.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Check the file and layers' names. If there are any symbol like ñ, á, é, í, ó, ú, etc. the file won't be imported.

Could they be in a different color mode than the other files this artist has created for you? Maybe they're CMYK, or maybe 16bit, or something else?

No fancy characters (as in letters) though...

Are there any color profiles from Photoshop that AS does not accept...egg on our face if there are , as that would be a pretty basic problem.

I don't think any color profiles would be a problem, but color modes are. Anime Studio only likes 8 bit RGB mode.
